Welcome to the New St Sampson's High School

Welcome to St Sampson’s High School, our brand new school with superb facilities which only opened in September 2008 and is at the beginning of its exciting new journey. The school is an 11-16 school of approximately 770 students and it is unique in Guernsey in that we are collocated with Le Murier School, a secondary special school catering for children with a range of needs. We work closely with Le Murier staff and the staff of both schools are committed to working as collaboratively as possible. We have the same uniform, logo and aims and where possible, the same policies. We have joint assemblies at the beginning and end of terms as well as for special occasions. Although it is early days, we have the beginnings of one School Council and one House system throughout both schools and we hope that there will be some joint clubs, activities and teams. We are exploring opportunities for joint curriculum work where it is appropriate. It is our intention to create the “best of both worlds” where there is inclusivity but individual support as required; partnership but each school will have its own identity; sharing but some independence will be retained. Our children and staff will benefit from working with Le Murier children and vice versa, we will “learn together”, which is our overarching aim.

Learning is at the heart of what we do. We aim to provide a calm and purposeful environment where students enjoy their lessons and have a responsible attitude towards their learning; where high standards of behaviour are expected; where the students feel safe and valued as individuals and where they will have the opportunities to develop their skills and talents so that they leave us with a good foundation on which to build and can take their place in society as responsible and
successful citizens.
