Latest News June 08
The main classroom block of St Sampson's High School has now been handed over to the Education Department so that the furniture and equipment can be installed. The rest will be handed over in phases with August 10 being the final completion date. The completed block is a wonderful building and we hope that our students and parents will be able to visit it before September.

Some new staff have been appointed to meet the needs of the larger school and we are at present seeking tenders for the catering contract.

We are pleased that the Environment Department is intending to install some traffic safety and calming measures before the Schools open in September.

Our Parent Teacher Association, the Home-School Link has recently met with parent representatives of Oakvale and St Peter Port and we have agreed to have one PTA to be known as Baubigny Home-School Link.

We are very busy at the moment both in organising all the procedures and information that have to be in place so that we can operate safely and efficiently in September and in sorting and packing. We have accumulated a lot in our time at the Delancey site.

We have now decided the school hours for St Sampson's High School.

Start time registration - 8.35

Lunch - 12.05 - 13.05

End of school - 2.55

The times have been planned to give a 10 minute gap between our start and finish times and those of Hautes Capelles to try and ease the traffic congestion

Dates to remember:

- Fri Jul 11 - students break up for the summer holidays

- Wed Sep 3 - Y7 and Y11 students only start at St Sampson's High School

- Thur Sep 4 - Ys 8-10 start

Opening Date Brought Forward to September 2008

We have all been really excited by the news that the building of the new school is so advanced that it has been decided to open in September 2008 not April 2009 as was planned.
This means that we are now only two terms away from moving in to our superb new buildings.

This is great news because it means:

• Next year’s Year 7 will be with us from the beginning not based on the St Peter Port site
• Next year’s Year 11 will have their whole year in the new school and not have the unsettling move only a few weeks before their GCSE exams
• There will be more time for the move because it is over the summer
• It will be good to begin the school year in our new building
